Modem stands for Modulator Demodulator. It is used for converting analog signals to digital and digital to analog one and connect the Internet through telephone.

Bridges send the date of a Local Area Network to another Local Area Network. Two or more LANs are connected together and make Wide Area Network.

Connectors are the equipments that connect two or more devices, and multiplexers are the devices that perform multiplexing of signals.

Expansion Modules are the items which are added to hand held devices. These can be memory cards with software and so on.

Firewalls are used for protecting resources of a private network from outsiders. It can be used by people to protect their data from other networks.

IP Phones allow the users to talk on the IP Network. Users can talk on these on affordable costs. Example of such phones are Internet or intranet.

Media Streamers are multimedia applications which is received by or presented to an end user. This is a delivery method of the medium.

Networks accessories include those items which are used for networking such as connectors, strippers, terminations tools, tool kits, cables etc.

The work of network adapter is to transmit and receive data over the Local Area Network. This is a printed circuit board.

Network cables are used for connecting one network device to other to make a network. Network cables include co-axial cables, optical fibers etc.

Networking hubs and switches combine multiple computers into one Local Area Network. Network Switches are also capable of inspecting data and can determine the data source.

Task of Networking repeaters are to regenerate the optical and electrical signals to send the data safely over network. Repeaters preserve network integrity.

Other network devices include network processing engine, wireless detectors, networking testing devices, terminal servers, voice DSP modules, parallel adapters etc.

Print Access Servers allow the users to access the printers by giving command from a remote computer. It is usually used in offices.

Remote Access Servers are for those users who are not on Local Area Network but want the remote access of it.

Serial adapters are plugged into serial USB ports, contain serial port sockets and these add serial ports to the computers.

Transceivers are the instruments which contains both transmitters as well as receivers in a single package. Transmitters and receivers share same circuity.

Wireless access points or WAPs are specially configured points to send or receive data over wireless. These act as transmitters and receivers.

In order to add wireless connectivity to a computer, wireless adapters are used. These are attached through USB ports, memory cards etc.

Routers help in transferring data from one network to another. It works at OSI layer 3. Router restricts network broadcasts to the local LANs.
